College Football Pick'em: GMAC Bowl Predictions

We went back and forth about talking about this game, and in the end, it was too much to resist. After all football is football, and that's what we do best here at Walker Sports. That is why today we are looking at the GMAC, that's right Central Michigan vs. Troy.

The MAC Champion Central Michigan Chippewas finished the 2009 season with a 11-2 record and ranked 25th in the nation, a first for the school. Head coach Butch Jones pulled one of the great turnarounds of all time to get Central Michigan into the top 25and now he will not be around to the the fruits of his labor. The one time play caller accepted a job to take over the Cincinnati Bearcats and has already shipped out for the winter.

That leaves assistant coach Steve Stripling in charge of the Chippewas. "We want to make this a winning experience and have an enjoyable experience as well. This team has accomplished a lot already this season, and we are looking forward to achieving our goals of being bowl champions and finishing in the Top 25." Interim Coach Steve Stripling.

Butch Jones may be gone, but quarterback Dan LeFevour and that may be all Central Michigan needs to get by. What Dan LeFevour accomplished during his four years was nothing short of amazing. He has amassed a total of 147 touchdowns over the course of his career, and thrown for 12,000 yards. After four years in the spread offense, LeFevour has become a master of the system, and is great at finding his targets down field.

Helping out Dan LeFevour is recording setting receiver Bryan Anderson who has caught a pass in a NCAA record 53 consecutive games. On the season Anderson has caught 57 passes good for 700 yards. Bryan Anderson's partner in crime Antonio Brown is no slouch either. Brown leads the Chippewas offense with 97 receptions for 1,020 yards.

There is no question the Central Michigan offense is loaded with talent and can put points in a flash.

The Troy Trojans finds themselves emerging from the depths of college football to reach a post New Year's day bowl game. It's actually hard to believe the Trojans are in the position considering they are still early season cupcakes for the like of Florida and USC. Nonetheless the Trojans put together a 9-3 record and showcase a prolific offense.

Troy has their own record breaking quarterback in senior Levi Brown. Coming into the GMAC Bowl Levi Brown ranked second in the nation in passing yards per game with 322.3 yards per game. He was also good enough to lead the Trojans offense to averaging 33 points a game. Make no mistake about it, Troy can score points.

The spread at this game is sitting at 3 points favoring Central Michigan. This is really no surprise. More than anything, the wild card in this game could be the massive layoff both teams have experience. It's been about 30 days since either team has played and with the spread offenses these teams run, their timing could definitely be thrown off. Nonetheless, I still love Dan LeFevour and the Central Michigan offense.

Winner: Central Michigan wins the game covers the spread. Take the over, its 63 points but I think the teams can still score.
