Cam Dolan Signs with the Northampton Saints

While the move is not a surprise, (it's been rumored since the conclusion of the fall test series) it's finally official.  Cam Dolan has signed with the Northampton Saints of the Aviva Premiership.

In the release Northampton Director of Rugby Jim Mallinder was quoted as saying: “We’ve kept a close eye on Cam for a while and have been impressed by what we’ve seen. He’s a player who has a lot of natural talent and the physical attributes it takes to succeed, something he showed during the Autumn Internationals and against the Maori."

Cam was a four time All-American with Life University, where he was part of the first undergraduate recruiting class to sign with the program in 2009.  Since then he has transformed into one of the top players in the country.  Even with missing most of the 2012/13 campaign with a torn ACL, Dolan was able to come back and pick up where he left off before the injury.

It must be noted, the transition from American Club rugby to a full time professional setup is a major step, and it will take Dolan some time to adjust to the new environment.  Northampton is not expecting him to step in right away and start alongside fellow American Samu Manoa.  However, judging from his work habits, and natural skill I don't think it will be long before we see Cam  break the starting XV.

Good luck.
