Daily Erin Andrews: Girls of the ACC

The NFL may be on strike, but college football season is a go, and we are lucky enough to have the beginning of  college football season right around the corner.  With football season on the horizon, that means Walker Sports is on our campus tour, hanging out at universities around the country, and of course checking out our favorite girls.  Today we are checking out the ladies of the ACC.  Long thought of as a basketball conference, with the resurgence of Florida State, and the longevity of Virginia Tech, the ACC is ready to prove they can throw down with the best of them

John Wall Throws Out Opening Pitch, and Nationals Fans Rejoice He Plays Basketball

It' you're a Washington Nationals fans there's a lot to celebrate now days.  The Nats are a game under .500 (a major feat if you are familiar with this team).  There's a ton of talent in the farm leages (see Bryce Harper), and you have one of the nicer stadiums to visit when you go out to the ball park.  Another thing Nationals fans can cheer about is John Wall does not play for their team.  Sure John Wall is the savior of the Washington Wizards NBA franchise, but after watching him toss the opening pitch on Friday evening, it became apparent, base simply is not John Walls sports.

That's okay John, just keep practicing that jump shot and all will be forgiven.

Golf Boys Record a Music Video for the U.S. Open

The 111th U.S. Open is set to begin on Thursday morning at the Congressional Golf Course in Bethesda Maryland.  And while golf is traditionally a serious business, there is still time to have some fun before the biggest tournament in the United States tees off.  Hot shot golfers Ben Crane, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, and Hunter Mahan have formed a Boy Band known as the Golf Boys, and they released their debue single earlier today just in time for this year's US Open.

And you thought boy bands were done?  Play this song a few times, and it will get stuck in your head.

Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks Sing We are the Champions

By now we've all heard the story about Mark Cuban taking the Dallas Mavs out to a Miami nightclub on Sunday night and running up a $90,000 tab, and then leaving a $30,000 tip.  What else would you expect from one of the richest and most extravagant owners in the NBA?  Well the Dallas Mavericks continued the party into Monday night back in Dallas.  Here is video posted by Mark Cuban, of himself, Dirk, Jason Kidd, and a few other members of the Dallas Mavericks singing Queens 'We Are the Champions' at a local hot spot in Dallas.

Walker Sports Talks NBA Finals with Brian Mitchell

One of the joys of being a big time sports blogger like we are here at Walker Sports, is you get to meet and talk with some of the guys that look up to.  On Monday evening, Dumont Walker had the opportunity to sit down and talk with NFL legend Brian Mitchell as part of Brian's new business venture Bmitchlive.com.  The two discussed the NBA Finals, and Dumont gave his thoughts on Dirk, LeBron James, and the rest of the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank Brian Mitchell for having me on, as I mentioned on Twitter, B Mitch has been nothing but all class whenever I've dealt with him, and I'm proud to get the opportunity to be on his show, and look forward to speaking with him again.  Please visit Brian Mitchell's site Bmitchlive.com to catch the latest episodes of BMitchLive, and follow him on Twitter as well.

Dwight Howard Perfoms the Haka with the All Blacks Rugby Team

Dwight Howard has never been one to shy away from the spotlight.  With Shaq retiring, there is no doubt that Howard is putting himself into a position to be the most marketable big man in the NBA.  Due to his sponsorship deal with Adidas, Howard had the opportunity to participate in a six city tour of Europe.  While there, Howard met up with another group of famous clients signed to the Adidas brand, the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team.

The AB's took advantage of the situation, and taught the big 7-footer the moves to the teams Haka, a pre-game chant that the All Blacks use to honor their heritage and scare opponents. While it's obvious Howard struggled a little bit with the moves, one thing is for sure, he had a better grasp of what was going on, than Denzel Washington had, when he was put into the same position back in the fall.

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James Make Fun of Dirk

Things are falling apart for the Miami Heat.  Dwyane Wade gets banged up in the loss last night.  LeBron James has disappeared from everything, and in typical Miami Heat fashion the Big 3 are making every wrong PR turn one can imagine.

Well guess what Heat fans, now Wade, and LeBron have taken to doing comedy impersonations, and they are picking on the 7-footer who's kicking their ass all over the court right now.  Maybe, they should spend less time worrying about how Dirk looks when he's ill and worry about how they play in the fourth quarter, and learn to close out a game.

Auburn Assistant Coach Chest Bumps Obama

It's a longstanding tradition that teams that win national championships visit the White House, and meet the president.  Earlier this week the 2010 Auburn Tigers got their opportunity to visit the White House and meet President Obama (No Cam Newton was not there, he'll have to wait till the Panthers win the Super Bowl.)

Typically this is a standard ceremony where the President makes a few remarks, cracks a joke or two, and then the coach of the winning team presents the Pres. with a jersey.  Then Obama walks down the line and shakes everyone's hands and they all go home.

Well one Auburn assistant coach was pretty excited to meet the president and rather than settling for a simple handshake he wanted Obama to feel like a member of the Auburn staff, and offered up a chest bump for the leader of the free world.

Tim Tebow on Steroids?

I know it's a near impossible thought, and believe me no one is a bigger Tim Tebow fan than I am.  However, after a recent picture made its rounds on Twitter, one has to wonder, what exactly has Tim Tebow been up to this offseason?

While teeing it up at a charity golf event in Alabama last week, a photo was snapped of the Denver Broncos quarterback, and let's just say he looks more than a little jacked.

Check out those guns! Now there has been plenty of speculation about the validity of this picture and rightfully so.  Tebow looks huge here, and he also looks like he is prepping to win Mr. Olympia, not a charity golf tournament.  Seriously, who oils up to go out in the sun in Alabama in the summer? That's a good way to fry yourself.

Another reason to doubt the validity of the picture is when you look at another photo taken from the same event.

Now that looks like the Tim Tebow we all know and love.  Sure he's still jacked, but at least he doesn't look like Macho Man Randy Savage in the picture.  He actually looks normal.  For now, I'm going to say Tim Tebow is not on the juice, and he is just relying on his FRS Energy drinks to prep him for his workouts.

Bryce Harper Celebrates A Home run With a Blown Kiss

The Washington Nationals figured they struck gold last year when they landed the No. 1 pick in the MLB draft, and earned the rights to teenage phenom Bryce Harper.  At the age of 17 Harper had already left high school early to begin his college baseball career, and many were anointing him as the LeBron James of baseball.  So far, those predictions have proven true in Harper's brief minor league career.  Unfortunately for many baseball  fans it appears Bryce Harper has taken on some of LeBron's attitude as well.

Ever since Harper was in high school he's shown to have an abundance of confidence in his skills on the diamond.  Some scouts even questioned if Harper had too much confidence, and if it would eventually be his downfall.  During last night's minor league game, Bryce Harper added fuel to that discussion with his antics after, smacking yet another home run.

After Harper jacked a pitch out of the park, he took his time trotting around the bases.  He also found enough time to blow a kiss to the opposing pitcher.  Needless to say this has plenty of baseball purest up in arms about the behavior of this young man.

Oh, and the AP recently ran a long Harper profile, which included this nugget. Feels apropos somehow:
“One of the biggest sins you can make is putting guys into position where they’re going to fail early,” said Doug Harris, who keeps a close in-person eye on Harper as the Nationals’ director of player development. “We’re really committed, but lay the blocks before we try to put in some chandeliers and some granite countertops. We want to make sure we’ve built a good foundation, not only on the field but in the clubhouse.”

Jim Tressel Gives a Farewell Speach From His Front Yard

The Ohio State football program is falling apart right before our eyes.  The allegations that began circulating in January have only intensified since then, and the Buckeyes are now feeling the backlash.  Head coach Jim Tressel stepped down  last week due to the controversy surrounding him.  Over the weekend, Tressel had a group of OSU fans gathered on his yard and chanting his name.  At that time Jim Tressel took to his front porch and gave his unofficial/official farewell address to Buckeye nation.

Once again proving he is the ultimate politician, Tressel made sure to stay loyal to his fan base, and get one more dig in on the "school up north."

Stay classy Jim Tressel
