Tommy Bowden Fired at Clemson

According to sources close to the school, Clemson has fired head football coach Tommy Bowden. Assistant coach Dabo Swinney will take over as interim coach for the remaining of the season.

This should not come as too much of a shock to anyone the Clemson Tigers were were ranked in the top 10 nationally in the preseason polls have fallen to a 3-3 record and are 1-2 in ACC play. This year has been a complete disaster for coach Bowden.

Despite having a contract with a 4 million dollar buyout the Tigers have found a way to rid themselves of Coach Bowden.

Bowden, the son of Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, has a 72-45 record and eight bowl appearances at Clemson.

In a text message to ESPN's Joe Schad Clemson quarter back Cullen Harper had the following to say, "I just found out. It’s what he deserves. Dabo Swinney is good man who will do a good job." One can also assume that Harper could be a little bitter because Bowden announced on Friday that he would sit his All ACC quarterback for next weeks game.

Please stay with us as we will bring more news as it comes along.

This is really, really bad news for Clemson. This will not make "real" fans happy. Oh well, maybe in 5 - 7 years, the "other" fans will realize their mistake.

Good luck, Tommy! You will be missed very much!

i think i would be bitter too if the head coach replaced me as the starting quarterback without giving me the respect of telling me before announcing it to the public.

This is a good move for Clemson. Bowden had reached the peak of his potential at Clemson. In addition, the Clemson fan base needs to readjust their expectations for this program and understand where they really stand on the pecking order of things in the college football world.

Actually "Anonymous," if you were a "real fan" you would be happy that they canned Tommy Bowden. Only the "other" fans would be naive enough not to see the damage he was doing to the Clemson football program. Put your love affair with Tommy Bowden aside and open your eyes... this is a good thing!!

Clemson has the ability to be number 1 and Tommy could have taken them there if only he would have released the offensive coordinator and the offensive line coach. Clemson legacy is great and I just hope we get back to our position in college football (#1) soon!

Amanda, you could not be more wrong... therefore, I will assume that you are one of the "others". Do not worry though... there is hope. Clemson will find their way through this mistake like they have in the past.

Signed,
A true Tiger fan
